British Rail Class 26 No. 26043 (originally numbered D5343) is a preserved operational Sulzer Type 2 diesel-electric locomotive. 26043 appeared at the Epping Ongar Railway autumn diesel gala and filmed here on the 26/09/2026 courtesy of the Cotswold Mainline Diesel Group and Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. We take a ride in the cab to as far as we can go, to Epping Tube Station. The 6 mile track that Epping Ongar Railway use was part of the Central Line for London Underground but closed in 1994, the track that Epping Ongar Railway use today, is still connected to the central line, but has stop boards and buffer stops, so sadly trains cannot go into Epping Station.
