👋 Join Ellie and me as we spend an unforgettable day exploring Bangkok, Thailand, starting with a traditional Thai long-tail boat tour along the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok's famous canals before finishing at the iconic Grand Palace.
If you're looking for the best things to do in Bangkok, Thailand, or wondering whether a long-tail boat tour and the Grand Palace are worth visiting, this video is for you.
We start the morning at our hotel before heading out on a traditional **Thai long-tail boat tour**, cruising through Bangkok's peaceful canals for around two hours. Away from the busy streets, we take in the beauty of Thailand's waterways, pass local homes, watch everyday life unfold along the canals, and simply enjoy slowing down and soaking up the scenery.
After the boat tour, we're dropped off at the spectacular **Grand Palace**, where we explore the stunning royal grounds, admire the incredible architecture, and wander through some of Bangkok's most beautiful temples. It was the perfect way to end the day, and we'd highly recommend combining these two experiences if you're visiting Bangkok for the first time.
Planning a trip to Thailand? This is one itinerary you won't want to miss!
About Today's Locations
*Bangkok's Canals (Khlongs)*
Often called the *"Venice of the East,"* Bangkok was once built around an extensive network of canals connected to the mighty **Chao Phraya River**. While many canals have since been replaced by roads, hundreds of waterways still weave through the city, offering a unique glimpse into traditional Thai life away from the busy streets.
*The Grand Palace*
Built in **1782**, the Grand Palace served as the official residence of the Kings of Siam—and later Thailand—for over 150 years. Today, it remains one of the country's most important cultural and historical landmarks, renowned for its stunning architecture, intricate temples, and the sacred Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew).
