DCS Commissioner testifies on prison gang networks, corruption, and staff manipulation

The Madlanga Commission has turned its attention to the vulnerability of South African prisons to criminal influence from within. Department of Correctional Services (DCS) National Commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale has told the commission that organised networks, involving some officials, are smuggling contraband into prisons to facilitate criminal activity.
