Why did God still make Aaron high priest after he made the golden calf?
Most of us remember Exodus 32 as the day the people demanded an idol. Read it slowly and the chapter keeps pointing at one man. In verse 4 Aaron shapes the calf with an engraving tool. Twenty verses later he tells Moses, "I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf." And the Hebrew word for calf, egel, shows up in only one other scene in the Law outside the golden calf account: the morning Aaron begins his work as priest.
In this study we read Exodus 32 in order and compare what Aaron did with what he said he did. Then we follow him into Deuteronomy 9, Leviticus 9, Numbers, and Hebrews 5 to see how Scripture itself explains why he was not replaced, and what his first sacrifice had to be.
