“Whispers of Luck”

“Whispers of Luck” is a song I wrote inspired by the wonderful old superstitions, sayings and little rituals that have been passed down through generations in Britain. Touch wood. Cross your fingers. Hang a horseshoe above the door. Pick up a lucky penny. Never put new shoes on the table. Avoid walking beneath a ladder. Say “white rabbits” on the first day of the month... and, of course, never forget to salute a lone magpie. ❤️ Most of us probably don't truly believe that these little things can change our luck and yet somehow, we still do them. And that's what made me want to write this song. Long before electric lights illuminated our streets and science could explain so much of the world around us, our ancestors lived alongside darkness, uncertainty, nature and the changing seasons. Folklore, superstition and little rituals became part of everyday life. Perhaps a horseshoe really did bring good fortune. Perhaps touching wood really could prevent something bad from happening. Perhaps seeing a black cat really was a sign of luck. Or perhaps these traditions simply gave people a little hope when life was uncertain. What fascinates me most is that whenever we repeat one of these old rituals today, we're doing something that countless people before us also did. Our grandparents did it. Their grandparents probably did it. And generations before them may have done exactly the same. For every strange old thing we do,A thousand hands once did it too. Perhaps that's where the real magic lies. Not necessarily in the penny, the horseshoe, the old oak tree or the magpie but in the invisible thread connecting us to the people who walked these roads long before we did. Their hopes, fears, wishes and stories still survive in the little traditions we quietly carry forward. ❤️ I wrote all of the lyrics to “Whispers of Luck” myself. The music, male vocals and artwork were AI-generated because I am an awful singer with absolutely no musical talent whatsoever! 😂 Trust me... you never want to hear my singing voice. I'm protecting your ears by leaving that part to AI! 😂 I love writing lyrics inspired by history, folklore and the little pieces of the past that somehow survive into our modern lives.
