Join me as we celebrate 125 years of Stockport Tramways, with a special anniversary event held at the Heaton Park Tramway and Museum of Transport Greater Manchester, filmed on Sunday 30th August 2026. The day celebrated the 125th anniversary of the opening of Stockport Corporation Tramways, bringing together Stockport's tram and bus heritage for a special day of operation and display. At Heaton Park Tramway, we see preserved Stockport Corporation Tramcar No. 5 in action, providing a wonderful opportunity to see a genuine survivor of the town's tramway system operating more than a century after the original network opened. We then head across to the Museum of Transport Greater Manchester, where the Stockport theme continues with preserved buses representing the town's later public transport history. The museum's extensive collection provides the perfect backdrop to explore how public transport in Stockport developed from the tramway era into the age of the motor bus. Throughout the video we'll see the vehicles on display and in operation, capturing this special collaboration between two of Greater Manchester's transport heritage attractions as they mark an important anniversary in Stockport's transport history.
