ROG Keris II Origin | The mel0n Review

This is the ROG Keris II Origins, ROG's latest release in the Keris lineup and one that, at least on paper, appears to be a significant improvement over the rather lackluster Keris II Ace. While ROG has made several notable upgrades; mainly the addition of a coating to the mouse shell and the inclusion of hot-swap switches—there are sadly a myriad of questionable design choices here.These include the main clicks remaining un-coated, the mouse being approximately 11g heavier than the Keris II Ace, and the confusing decision to paywall the 8K polling. To utilize that higher rate, you must purchase a separate polling rate booster—the same one that was included with the Keris II Ace but is omitted here. Furthermore, while ROG designed the mouse to be easy to open, they decided to use special security screws inside. This makes the mouse significantly harder to service than previous iterations of the Keris. All of these questionable decisions accumulate to outweigh the improvements made here, resulting in the Origins feeling like a step backward rather than the step forward it was designed to be.
