In this series:
Now that I've done a Let's Play of LEGO Batman 1, I might as well move on to LEGO Batman 2. I first played this game on Wii, like the first game. And, like the first game, the only reason I have it on Steam is because a bundle containing the first three LEGO Batman video games plus a then ongoing sale meant that buying LEGO Batman 3 (the only one I had yet to purchase at that point) would have cost me the same as buying the bundle, so I saved myself some money and bought all three at once. I later got a mod to add the DLC characters to the PC version, where they never released as official DLC.
In this video:
Lex Luthor feels he got snubbed for the Man of the Year award in favor of Bruce Wayne. But the Joker and several other villains attack the event (according to the news segment at the beginning of the next level, this is the fifth time the Man of the Year award ceremony was held in Gotham City and the second time villains attacked the event), forcing Bruce Wayne, the winner, to take on the mantle of Batman and fight them. I rescue a Citizen in Peril, which is the official term in this game (Hostages in LEGO Batman 1 are a term I first saw referring to them on Speedrun.com and don't know the origin of, but those work different to this game's Citizens in Peril) and get two Minikits along the way. In this game, the Minikits build small-scale land, water, or air vehicles that you can mount and control, so that makes them more useful than the Minikits were in Lego Batman 1. Also, the news calls Bruce Wayne a playboy, yet the "playboy" part of Tony Stark's line "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" in LEGO Marvel's Avengers is censored about four years later (that game was released in 2016 and this one was released in 2012) even though both games are E10+ where the ESRB has jurisdiction. Were four years all it took for standards to change? Something else related to their changing standards is that in LEGO Jurassic World, the game censored all of the human deaths even though Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga (and the two games it's a compilation of and several other LEGO video games between the two) had no problem with death. Why'd I show you the trailer for the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game? I felt like it and both games turn fifteen years old next year (the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game also released in 2012), but it may have been a bad idea.
