He Watched The Tape With Police. It Was Him On It.

At seventeen minutes past five in the morning on August 13, 2018, a neighbour's security camera in Frederick, Colorado recorded a man loading his truck. Fourteen hours later he stood in that neighbour's living room while the same footage played on a television three feet in front of him. He never looked at the screen. Shanann Watts was 34 and fifteen weeks pregnant. Bella was four. Celeste was three. For the next two days her husband gave interviews on his own front step asking the public for help finding them — while knowing exactly where they were, because he had put them there. What makes this case different is not what he did. It is the forty-eight hours afterward, and a recording of the exact moment he was shown the evidence that would convict him. Three months after sentencing, with nothing left to gain, he told investigators a different story. Case File #008.
