What a Forward Deployed Engineer Really Does (Real 6-Week Deployment + How to Become One)

"The demo was amazing. Six months later, nothing was in production." 🔧 Ajay Bongani (AJ DevOps Solutions) explains the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role — what FDEs actually do, how the role differs from solutions engineers, consultants and product engineers, and the skills it needs — by following one illustrative six-week deployment end to end: discovery, earning access through security, a prototype on real data, evaluation, production hardening, handover, and turning field work into product features. Plus: pilot purgatory, five failure modes, the economics, and a practical roadmap to become an FDE. 💬 Would you take an FDE role? Comment yes, maybe, or no. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The demo was amazing.
