In February 1959, nine experienced hikers died in the northern Ural Mountains under circumstances that became one of history’s most debated mysteries. Their tent was found collapsed on an exposed slope. Boots, coats, food, cameras, and journals remained inside. The tent had been cut open from within, and a trail led away toward the forest. In Episode 3 of The Unfinished Record, we reconstruct the Dyatlov group’s final expedition, follow the physical evidence from the tent to the cedar and ravine, and examine the leading explanations — attack, secret military activity, extreme wind, and the modern slab-avalanche theory. The answer may not be supernatural. It may be a sequence of rational survival decisions made in darkness, wind, and lethal cold.
