Reese & Hazel | Board & Train – On-Leash Reactivity Training Around Passing Dogs

Reese and Hazel teamed up for another training session at Best Paw Forward Dog Training! 🐾 Reese is currently in her fourth week of Board & Train, while Hazel is in her third week, and today both dogs worked on on-leash reactivity around a passing dog. For this session, we created a realistic training scenario where another dog passed by while Reese and Hazel practiced staying calm, focused, and responsive to their handlers. During today’s session, we focused on: 🐾 On-Leash Reactivity – Helping Reese and Hazel work through the presence and movement of another dog 🐾 Attention & Engagement – Reinforcing focus on their handlers instead of fixating on the passing dog 🐾 Leash Skills – Maintaining better communication and control as the distraction moved nearby 🐾 Impulse Control – Practicing calmer responses instead of immediately reacting 🐾 Working Around Dog Distractions – Building skills that can translate to everyday walks and real-world situations Reactivity training takes repetition, consistency, and gradually working around challenging distractions. Sessions like this allow Reese and Hazel to practice making better choices while still having the support and guidance of their handlers.
