Last night, while doing a somatic practice, I had one of the strangest and most fascinating experiences I've had while reconnecting with my body.
I was looking at my vulva in the mirror when something clicked in my mind. The shape reminded me of traditional imagery of the Virgin Mary, and for a brief moment, I experienced this unexpected feeling of awe and reverence.
Naturally, I started questioning why I'd made that association, which led me down a rabbit hole exploring Christian iconography, the mandorla, and imagery that could be interpreted as representing the sacred feminine.
In this video I'm thinking out loud about that experience, the relationship between feminine symbolism and historically patriarchal religious traditions, and my own journey of deconstructing beliefs and reconnecting with my body.
I'm not making any definitive religious or historical claims here. I'm sharing a personal experience, the questions it raised for me, and what it might mean to approach our bodies with curiosity rather than shame.
I'd genuinely love to know what you think. Have you ever had an unexpected moment of awe or recognition while reconnecting with your body?
