Giuseppe Dal Bianco performs on a Sáo Mèo Nũ (Vietnam) Traditional musical instrument of the H'Mȏng ethnic group. A free-reed wind instrument of the H'mong ethnic group. Although it looks like a bamboo transverse flute, it is not actually a flute. Hidden inside the mouthpiece is a small metal free reed that vibrates as air passes through it. Its tone is deep and nasal, producing the warm, gently buzzing sound characteristic of the traditional music of Vietnam's highland regions. Playing it requires a special breath control technique to make the reed vibrate properly.
