In this video, I share my chest and back workout routine and explain why training these muscle groups is important for me as someone living with mitochondrial dystonia. Living with a mitochondrial and neurological condition can make strength and endurance more difficult, but building the muscles in the chest and back helps support better posture, stability, and functional movement. A stronger back can improve trunk control and help with everyday activities like reaching, pulling, and maintaining balance, while a stronger chest contributes to pushing movements and overall upper body strength. By focusing on controlled exercises, proper technique, and allowing my body enough time to recover, I can continue exercising safely while managing fatigue. This workout isn’t about lifting the heaviest weights—it’s about improving functional strength, maintaining independence, and proving that fitness can be adapted to meet the unique needs of people living with mitochondrial dystonia
