Hadigaun (also spelled Handigaun) is one of the oldest historical and cultural settlements in the Kathmandu Valley, serving as the ancient capital of Nepal during the Licchavi period (c. 250 AD). Located at the geometric center of Kathmandu (Ward No. 5), it was originally known as Andipringa during the Kirat era and Vishalnagar during the Licchavi dynasty. Today, it stands out as a vibrant neighborhood that beautifully bridges ancient Newari heritage with modern community initiatives.
