How to Boost Milk in Mother Pigs Using Garden Fruit | Finding & Feeding Mountain Cows

How to Boost Milk in Mother Pigs Using Garden Fruit | Finding & Feeding Mountain Cows Keeping our nursing mother pigs healthy & producing plenty of milk for their growing piglets is one of my most important tasks on Golden Ridge Farm. Today, I headed into our hillside garden to harvest fresh green papayas, a wonderful natural fruit that helps boost milk production in nursing sows. After washing & slicing the papayas into thick pieces, I simmered them into a rich, steaming cauldron of nutritious mash over our wood-fired hearth & served the warm meal to our mother pigs. Once the sows & their litters were happily fed, I spent the afternoon tending to the rest of our farmstead animals, scrubbing the pens clean, scattering feed for our chickens & pond fish, & checking on the goats. Before evening fell, I packed coarse salt into my bag & hiked high up the mountain trails to find our free-roaming cattle, calling the herd together to feed them salt for essential minerals & making sure every cow was safe & healthy in the forest.
