For this video, I spent my first night sleeping rough in Manchester city centre, camping in a small patch of grassland with nothing but the equipment I could carry with me. This is part of my ongoing journey documenting homelessness in the UK, and my current circumstances have essentially forced me to experience what it was actually like to spend a night outside rather than simply talk about it. It was honestly quite an anxiety-inducing experience, and there were moments where I wasn't sure how the night was going to go. This is a completely honest account of what happened. Feel free to follow me along the rest of my journey where I remain hopeful to navigate my way out of this. If you're willing and able to support me directly and help me get back on my feet, you can do so here: https://gofund.me/845e5b4c7 Some of the equipment I used during this experience: Tent: https://link.amazon/B03ESpXvZ Sleeping bag: https://link.amazon/B08FXGm6j Sleeping pad: https://link.amazon/B0cule2QQ Camping rucksack: https://link.amazon/B0ix4kPKV Affiliate disclosure: Some of the links above are affiliate links. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: This video documents my personal experience of sleeping rough and is not intended as advice or encouragement to sleep rough or camp illegally. Please don't attempt to replicate what I did based solely on this video. Sleeping outdoors can involve significant risks, including exposure to cold and wet weather, dehydration, injury, crime, unsafe locations and other hazards. If you are experiencing homelessness yourself, please consider contacting your local council, homelessness services or another appropriate support organisation rather than attempting to replicate this experience. I am documenting my own experience — not recommending it as something others should try.
