First Tomato Harvest. The Garden Kept Better Notes Than I Did (Log 09)

The forecast said 45 degrees. Then it wouldn't stop raining. But i was finally able to harvest my first tomatoes! A heatwave morning harvest first (basil, zucchini, cucumber, the first small tomatoes) then water stations set up for the bees and birds before the worst of it hit. Then the rain came, and did an impulsive trip to Bunnings for whatever pollinator-friendly plants were on sale. Digging, planting, Millie unhelpful throughout ensued. Then a few weeks away, and a mess to come home to. The tomatoes didn't wait, so I got my first real harvest, then a second one! The labels had washed off so half of it a mystery because I couldn't remember what I'd planted where, but I think i figured it out. Still figuring out which is worse: the heat, the rain, or my own memory. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:00 Intro 00:33 Watering in before the heatwave hits 01:08 Harvesting basil, zucchini, cucumber and the first tomatoes 02:31 Setting up water stations for the bees and birds 04:09 The rain rolls in 04:29 An impulsive Bunnings run for pollinator plants 06:20 Digging and planting the new flowers 09:46 Back in the garden after a few weeks away 10:36 First real tomato harvest 14:16 Second harvest day 16:33 Where did I plant the green tomatoes? 17:43 Taking the harvest inside -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ▶ Missed the last one?
