JUPITER HAS RINGS TOO! | Does Jupiter Have Rings? | COSMOLINGS #SpaceForKids #jupiter

Saturn is throwing a Ring Party — rings only! Jupiter says he has rings too… but Saturn can't see them. In this episode: Saturn looks closer with a magnifying glass — nothing! Then we turn down the lights and let the Sun shine from behind… and there they are! Jupiter's rings are real. They're made of dust: tiny, tiny bits knocked off Jupiter's little moons when space rocks crash into them. Dust is dark, so the rings are faint — just like dust you only see in a sunbeam. Saturn's rings are mostly ice, and ice is bright, so they shine. Jupiter's rings are so faint that nobody saw them until a spacecraft flew by in 1979. And guess what? All four giant planets have rings! Science word: dust (tiny, tiny bits) Real fact: Jupiter's faint rings were discovered by Voyager 1 in 1979. They are made mostly of dust from Jupiter's small inner moons. Saturn's rings are mostly water ice. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune all have rings.
