Jen was a cancer biologist with a PhD, a career spent studying tumors, and no family history of the disease. So when abnormal bleeding sent her to the gynecologist, she never expected the word sarcoma, let alone the rare, aggressive form eventually diagnosed as endometrial stromal sarcoma.
What followed was a misdiagnosis, a hysterectomy she insisted on herself, and two recurrences over nearly a decade, including a devastating point when doctors told her the cancer had spread to her lungs with, in her oncologist's words, tumors too numerous to count.
Thank you, Jen, for sharing your story to help others.
