No samples: in SynthMaker on Mac we build a grand piano from its physics, one idea at a time, hearing each one. A felt hammer is simulated hitting the string (its felt stiffens as it's squashed, so loud notes come out brighter by themselves). One flexible string, then stiff steel with its stretched, bell-like harmonics, then three slightly detuned strings per key that beat and leave a long aftersound. Then the spruce soundboard, hundreds of short wooden resonances, each key in its place across the stereo field, the knock of the frame and keybed, the sustain pedal's sympathetic strings, and a concert hall. It ends with the piano played by a small performer that shapes dynamics, voicing and timing the way pianists do.
This episode is also a lesson inside the app (Help › Lessons on Mac): the app builds it live while you watch. Your piano is saved in the library as My Physics Piano; Concert Grand, Upright Piano and Felt Piano are there too.

SynthMaker runs on iOS 26 and macOS 26 (the AI features need 27).
