Welcome back to Pocket Woodcraft! 🦉 So glad you’re here for another calming ASMR carving session. In today's video, I’m whittling a miniature barn owl in mid-flight with outstretched wings, sculpted entirely from a standard 1" x 1" x 4" basswood block. The stylized, flat-plane silhouette is very approachable for anyone with basic whittling experience to follow along! The secret to carving this piece lies in how you handle the delicate wings. Take your time with light, gentle paring cuts along the feather lines rather than forcing the blade. Working slowly prevents unnecessary stress on the thin wood grain so the wings don't snap midway through, while keeping your blade movement steady and fully controlled (and as always, remember to carve mindfully and wear your protective thumb guard or carving glove!). Thank you so much for watching, following along, and supporting the channel! If you enjoyed the crisp, soothing sounds of wood shavings falling today, please consider liking the video, leaving a comment, and sharing it with fellow makers. What bird or forest creature should I whittle next? Sit back, unwind, and enjoy the calming ASMR experience.
