Getting into treatment is only the beginning. What happens when someone leaves rehab with no job, no income, and just two weeks of funding for a recovery house that charges rent every week?
Even someone with work experience can struggle to get hired—and receive their first paycheck—before that funding runs out. For someone rebuilding their life, that deadline can create another crisis.
In this According 2 Dee episode, I question discharge plans that depend on money people don’t have and discuss: • The gap between getting hired and getting paid. • Philadelphia’s Single County Authority Recovery House Initiative, formerly OAS. • Housing referrals and realistic backup plans. • Assessment for level 3.1 residential treatment when clinically appropriate.
Personal responsibility matters. So does giving people a realistic chance to move forward.
