Nurve - Diversion (Drum & Bass) | Part 7 - Building The Drop

In this session, I continued developing the 32-bar drop, adding extra sounds, working on transitions, introducing a crash cymbal and changing the rides to give the drums more movement. I also started experimenting with the speed and feel of the hi-hats, switching between faster and slower patterns and bringing in different rides to help build out the arrangement. The aim was to develop the drop and give it more variation without losing the core groove. But here's where things get interesting. Since recording this session, I've gone back and completely rewritten the drums and bass. I've kept around 70–80% of the original idea, but the new version sounds quite different. I've now got a Version 2 sketch, which I'll introduce in Part 8 and continue developing from there. It's a good example of how making music doesn't always mean following one idea in a straight line. Sometimes you need to build a sketch, live with it, and then rethink certain elements to find a direction that works better. The journey with Diversion continues!
