Long CSX Trains Meet on a Cloudy January Afternoon at Game Farm Rd. in New Scotland, NY (1/14/26)

Date: Wednesday January 14, 2026 Location: New Scotland, NY (Game Farm Rd. crossing) Resolution: 4k with 30 FPS (iPhone 14 Pro Max) [details of the 2 trains are below my description] This was the third and final daylight stop on this trip to the Albany area to catch the inaugural westbound run of the Z619 (which was renumbered to Z265 starting the next day). We would catch three trains at Game Farm Road, which is three more than the first time we visited this location back in July 2022; back then we only saw a single MOW track truck in three hours in 90F heat! I published the first train from this location (an ethanol unit train) on August 9 of this year, along with another train in nearby Guilderland. Not too long after that, I104 made its appearance, followed eight minutes later by M565 in the opposite direction. If one is going to have an in-person meet, this one worked out as well as one could hope, with the first train on the far track and the second one eventually passing in front of it. We would head off to dinner at the Northern Barrell in Voorheesville. It's a solid pub within walking distance of the junction between the CSX Selkirk Sub and the NS Voorheesville Connector. So if you're going visit that area, I recommend it highly! After dinner, we heard a train and quickly drove back to the tracks just in time to catch I157 in the dark (and rain).
