Starting a YouTube Gaming Channel - 2 Year Update

I started taking my gaming YouTube channel seriously two years ago. Since then I've uploaded 183 videos, gone from 238 subscribers to over 2,000, reached almost 400,000 lifetime views and experienced pretty much every high and low that comes with trying to grow a small gaming channel. In this video I'm sharing what those two years have taught me. I'll show you the videos that worked, the ones that completely failed, how long my videos take to make, what happened when one video suddenly reached 66,000 views, how I eventually got monetised and how much YouTube has paid me so far. I'll also talk about some of the things the analytics don't show. That includes receiving games and hardware for review, dealing with negative comments after my early Metroid Prime 4 review, why I briefly took that video down, and the small video about men's mental health that ended up meaning more to me than some of my biggest uploads. This isn't a guide to beating the YouTube algorithm, because after 183 videos I still don't pretend to have that figured out. It's simply an honest look at what happened when I spent two years building a gaming channel alongside a full-time job and normal life. If you're thinking about starting your own gaming channel, already trying to grow one, or you're simply curious about what goes on behind DaddyHands, hopefully you'll get something from this. Let me know in the comments if you have your own channel and what you've learned from it. And if you've been watching DaddyHands for any part of the last two years, thank you for being part of it.
