The Cross still stands, surrounded, worn, A thousand years of faith reborn. From ancient walls to sacred ground, The Crescent armies gather round. No more retreat, no land to yield, The Cross shall rise upon the field! Sixteenth of July, 1212, The fate of kingdoms stood at stake. Beneath the Cross, they raised their shields, No step behind, no soul would break! The Cross and the sword! Riding into the storm! Through fire and blood! Their kingdom would endure! The Cross and the sword! United they would stand! At Las Navas they would rise, And change the fate of Spain! Alfonso of Castile leads the way, Pedro of Aragon joins the fray. Sancho of Navarre, the mighty king, Three royal crowns, one destiny! Their banners rise against the sky, Three kingdoms sworn to never die. Beneath the Cross, their armies stand, Together they defend their land! Before the tent of Miramamolin, The final chains stood strong and grim. Sancho the Strong, his sword held high, Broke through the chains beneath the sky! ======= Historical Background ======== The Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa (1212) — The Christian kingdoms of Castile, Aragon and Navarre, led by Alfonso VIII, Peter II and Sancho VII the Strong, united under the sign of the Cross against the Almohad Caliphate. King Sancho of Navarre led the decisive assault on the enemy camp, breaking through the legendary chains that guarded the Caliph. These chains became the enduring symbol of Navarre, crowning its coat of arms to this day. This historic victory shattered Almohad power and marked a turning point in the Reconquista, opening the path for the Christian advance across southern Iberia. ========== Follow MORION ========== Production note: Morion is an independent AI-assisted music project inspired by a passion for epic metal and history.
