500 geocaches was just the beginning

The 500 geocaches in one year challenge is officially behind us… but the adventure isn't stopping! 🗺️🧭 The very next day, we hit the road again and headed out across Michigan for another day of geocaching! We started in Beaverton, Michigan, searching for Riri Stop 13. The coordinates were WAY off, but the hiding spot quickly became obvious — and it turned out to be a quick and easy find. Next, we headed into town to Hometown's in Beaverton, a cache near Rose Lake that was hiding in a guardrail at the park and ride. Then things got a little more difficult. We tackled How Far Will You Drive for Your Daily Fix?, a higher-difficulty cache that had me searching everywhere and seriously considering giving up. After a long search, I finally spotted the tiny nano cache tucked into a piece attached to a fence! After about an hour and a half of driving, we made our way near Higgins Lake to search for a cache with A LOT of favorite points — Geronimo!!! ~ 101st Airborne!! This one took us deep into the woods, with the GPS bouncing all over the place. Just when I was about ready to call it quits, I noticed an old pair of shoes on the ground… and an ammo can nearby. FOUND IT! 🎯 Our final stop took us to Gaylord, Michigan, where we attempted a geocache we had already failed to find once before. Unfortunately, Not What You Think lived up to its name and ended the day with another DNF. 😭 One day after reaching 500 caches, we're right back on the road chasing more!
