🥾 Berg Lake Day 1: Kinney Lake, Whitehorn Camp & Frozen Hiking Buddy

June 12, 2026 Distance: 11.5 km Elevation gain: 583 m Time on trail: 4 hours After months of looking forward to this adventure, Klara and I finally set off on our 3-day backpacking trip to Berg Lake in Mount Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia! Day 1 begins with a rainy morning registration at the Mount Robson Visitor Centre before we shoulder our packs and hit the famous Berg Lake Trail. Along the way we hike through beautiful forests, cross bridges and boardwalks, stop for lunch at Kinney Lake, watch a flock of Canada geese fly overhead, and even spot a grouse on the trail. After tackling the switchbacks, we arrive at Whitehorn Campground to set up camp, enjoy dinner by the river, and discover that camping comfort is a very personal thing—while Klara freezes in her sleeping bag, I'm somehow overheating!
