Manipulation is usually treated as a problem of bad people doing bad things.
But what if manipulation is actually telling you something much deeper about the person using it — and the person being manipulated?
In this video, I explore the hidden psychology and spiritual mechanics of manipulation through three very different reasons people manipulate:
1. You believe you won’t get what you want — but you’ve never actually asked.
2. You know you won’t get what you want — because someone has already said no.
3. You don’t even care about the outcome anymore — you want the rush of power that comes from making someone do what you want.
And I want to dismantle all three.
Because underneath manipulation can be shame around desire, fear of rejection, an inability to tolerate another person’s autonomy, the need for control, and the intoxicating feeling of omnipotence.
But there is another layer.
What happens when manipulation actually works?
Why can getting exactly what you wanted still leave you hungry?
Why does something stop feeling real when you know you had to engineer it?
And why can the person who manipulates and the person who gets manipulated sometimes be operating inside the exact same unconscious system?
This is not a video about morality, or “how to manipulate people”, nor is it simply about learning how to “spot a manipulator.”
It is an exploration of manipulation, control, desire, power, vulnerability, the ego, autonomy, shadow work, and the unconscious dynamics that exist underneath human relationships.
Because perhaps the opposite of manipulation isn’t weakness.
Perhaps it is being able to face reality without needing to control the outcome.
