I took a seasonal backcountry ranger job at a remote station in Alaska, expecting long hikes, paperwork, bears, and isolation. Instead, on my ninth night, the two rangers I worked with gave me a small index card filled with rules. Don't answer certain voices. Don't turn around. Don't help certain people. Don't leave the station after dark. And above all… never improvise. I laughed at the rules. I stopped laughing the first time I found a pair of children's boots standing in the middle of an empty trail. What happened after that made me understand why four rangers had disappeared from that station—and why the people who worked there refused to call each other by their first names. This is a first-person wilderness horror story from the isolated backcountry of Alaska. Turn down the lights. Put on your headphones. And listen carefully. Sometimes the thing calling your name isn't trying to find you. It's trying to become you.Hashtags #Creepypasta #HorrorStories #ScaryStories #WildernessHorror #AlaskaHorror #ParkRanger #RangerStories #RulesHorror #BackcountryHorror #ScaryStories #HorrorNarration #TrueHorror #UnsettlingStories #EchoHorrorFiles
