Join me on an another epic Australian 4,751km, 47-hour road trip from the most northern tip of Australia Cape York to almost the most southern point of mainland Australia in Melbourne. We travel through some of Australia's remotest roads in a legendary 1981 Toyota LandCruiser. This is slow travel, old-school touring, and pure outback adventure. Part 2 of 5 continues just outside of Cooktown, down through Cairns, past Townsville and across to Charters Towers. We push from the tip of Cape York down through Cooktown and Cairns, tackling rugged tropical tracks, endless outback highways through Longreach, past Cameron's Corner and Broken Hill, and across the to the ancient dunes of Mungo, across the mighty Murray river at Swan Hill, and down through Ballarat to Melbourne. The 1981 Fj45 LandCruiser Troop Carrier proves once again why it’s an icon — simple, tough, and built for the outback. No modern tech, no microchips, no shortcuts, just mechanical grit and a whole lot of kilometres.
