FPC Worship - The Mystery of Mercy

Welcome to Worship at First Presbyterian Church! Today we reflect on the surprising generosity of God and the mystery of mercy. Rev. Scott Nowack shares a message titled “The Mystery of Mercy,” based on Exodus 16:2–15 and Matthew 20:1–16 (NRSVUE). In Exodus, God responds to the hunger of the Israelites by providing manna—enough for each day. In Matthew, Jesus tells the story of vineyard workers hired at different hours who all receive the same wage. Both passages challenge the way we measure fairness and remind us that God’s grace is not something we earn or deserve more than someone else. Mercy is given freely by a generous God.
