Dr. Samadhi Rajapaksa is the Chairman of National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol. He is also the founder of Cancer Care Association and Palliative Care Trust (a non-governmental volunteer charity organizations registered in Sri Lanka). Dr. Samadhi is actively involved in helping cancer patients with needed medications and other physical and psychological needs. Apart from being a western Medical Doctor, he is qualified in Counseling, Traditional Medicine. He has special interest in Palliative Medicine, where he pioneered home-based palliative care in Sri Lanka and currently maintains two hospices in Sri Lanka. He is one of the few doctors who have completed a PhD in Buddhist Philosophy. As a devoted Buddhist he is well known for his meritorious activities. He considers caring for patients is caring for Lord Buddha himself. There is no way of explaining his irreproachable character in this short biography. Being a man with many talents, he expressed his talents in many ways which includes traditional Kandyan dancing, Arts, Poetry, and Philosophy.
