Is Jesus Really God? | John 5:16–24

What does Jesus mean when He says, “My Father is working until now, and I am working”? Continuing through the Gospel of John, Pastor Straton Michelle examines John 5:16–24, where Jesus responds to the Jewish leaders after healing the man at the pool of Bethesda on the Sabbath. Jesus’ statement about His Father working is understood as a claim of equality with God, leading to an even deeper explanation of who He is. The sermon explores the mystery of the Trinity and the relationship between the Father and the Son. Jesus is fully God, yet He submits to the will of the Father through love and humility. He does not merely claim to speak for God. He claims divine authority to give life, to judge, and to receive the same honor as the Father. The message ultimately points to Jesus’ identity as God in the flesh and the eternal life He offers to those who hear His words and believe.
