Intimacy after 60. Why is it something we still seem uncomfortable talking about?
We talk about healthy aging. Staying active. Finding purpose. Reimagining our lives after 50 and 60.
But intimacy? Attraction? Wanting to be touched? Wanting to feel desirable? Wanting to flirt with the person you love?
Suddenly everybody gets very quiet.
In this episode of No Roles. No Rules. Just You., I’m talking about intimacy after 60, relationships as we age, physical affection, attraction, connection, and why intimacy still matters later in life.
And no, intimacy and sex aren't necessarily the same thing.
Sometimes intimacy is holding hands. Sitting close on the couch. A kiss in the kitchen. Being looked at by someone who still sees you—not your age.
And yes, sometimes it is about sex.
Because getting older doesn't mean we stop wanting to feel attractive, desired, connected, playful or close to another human being.
I’m 68…pushing 69.
I have wrinkles. I have gray hair. Gravity and I are currently in a disagreement—and gravity appears to be winning.
But I'm not dead. Not even close.
So let's talk about the thing we're apparently not supposed to talk about.
☕ Grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. It's 5 o'clock somewhere. And let's have a conversation.
What does intimacy mean to you at this stage of your life? I'd really like to hear your thoughts in the comments.
