Near shelter: 2 pairs of Safetran 8" lights with Siemens Fading LEDs and a disconnected Safetran mechanical bell. On May 21st, 2022, I went out and filmed a few railroad crossings, mainly on the CTrain Red Line. One of the first crossings I filmed that day was at Sunnyside Station. Due to the closure of all downtown stations at the time, trains were terminating at Sunnyside. Before heading northwest on the CTrain, I recorded two trains at this crossing with two different angles. Here we see a refurbished Siemens SD160 Series 5 consist and a Siemens S200 Series 9 consist. This crossing is certainly an interesting one. It features a standard modern CTrain gated crossing, and a sheltered one for pedestrians! This crossing was built around 1986-1987 when the northwest leg of the Red Line opened in 1987 from downtown to University station. The crossing originally featured Safetran EM gates, Safetran 8" incandescent lights, and a working Safetran mechanical bell in the near pedestrian shelter. The crossing remained unchanged until 2016, when the Safetran EMs were replaced with the current modern US&S/Ansaldo-STS signals. Then in late 2018, all the Safetran 8" lights were retrofitted with Siemens Fading LED modules, the 2nd train coming mast was installed with a WCH E-Bell, and the Safetran mechanical bell was disconnected. Even with the modernizations, the crossing is still quite a neat one. Please comment, like and subscribe! Timestamps: 0:00 4 Avenue Northwest crossing 0:58 Sunnyside Station north pedestrian crossing
