Proliferation financing frameworks help businesses understand who they deal with and where funds end up.
Organisational risks can arise indirectly through supply chains, even when they think exposure is low. As Australia’s AML/CTF reforms took effect on 1 July 2026, most of the focus was on compliance for Tranche 2 entities, but the reforms also strengthen expectations around sanctions and proliferation financing risk management that businesses need to address.
So, should businesses integrate proliferation financing risk frameworks into their operations, even if they believe the risk is low?
In this episode of Beyond the Numbers with Grant Thornton, AML/CTF expert Neil Jeans explores why organisations should assess their exposure, even if they think risk is low, and where businesses can start so they’re in the best defensive position should any issues arise.
