What AI Can Never Take From Us

As artificial intelligence becomes smarter and more human-like, what actually makes us different? Genesis says human beings were created in the image of God—but what does that mean in an age of AI and AGI? AI may eventually outperform humans at many intellectual tasks. It may replace jobs, imitate creativity, carry on convincing conversations, and even appear to offer companionship. But does intelligence make something human? Could an AI ever become a person? And if machines can do more of the things we once thought made humanity unique, where does our value come from? In this message, we look at Genesis 1–2 and the biblical doctrine of the image of God through three challenges posed by artificial intelligence: human value, meaningful work, and human relationships.
