God Doesn't Want Your Money—He Wants Your Heart

What if God’s purpose in giving isn’t primarily about getting something from you, but about doing something in you? In this message, we explore giving as a spiritual discipline and why generosity has so much to do with the condition of our hearts. Prayer, Scripture, fasting, worship, serving, and giving all train us to become more like Christ, and giving uniquely challenges our trust in money and our desire for control. We look at what the Bible teaches about giving, tithing, offerings, generosity, and Malachi 3:10’s invitation to “test” God. We’ll also examine Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” But this message ultimately isn’t about earning God’s love through generosity. The gospel starts somewhere else: before God ever asked us to give, He gave to us. Jesus gave Himself for us. So the question isn’t simply, “Do I have to give 10%?” The deeper question is: Has Jesus made me more generous?
