Also released in stereo, quadraphonic, and possibly a stereo remix. Taken from a UK CBS pressing using USA cuts of "Bernstein Conducts Tchaikovsky". The low frequency sound that plagued the right hand channel of the stereo mix appears, perhaps inevitably from time to time in this version as well. Perhaps it has been mixed or filtered out of the quadraphonic mix, or the stereo remix (should there be one). This also suffers from the common mono problem of a more distant and cluttered sound. The cannon sections have far less impact, and strangely the track cuts off mid reverb trail rather than a fuller decay or fade. Cannons - percussion subsitute. Choir - no. Quirks - some noises, a distinct change in tempo, low frequency noise, reverb cut at end of performance. Catalogue - BRG 72147 (this edition). Indexed points of interest (including approx. five seconds lead in where appropriate): 0:00 Beginning 1:11 Unusually sustained note 1:58 Noise 2:21 Series of noises 4:58 Background noise 8:29 Background noise 9:08 String noise then distinct increase in tempo 11:41 Finale 12:13 First cannons 13:03 First bells 14:17 Finale - second half 14:28 Second cannons 14:49 Second bells 15:17 Unresolved snare roll 15:27 Reverb trail cut off Technical: no EQ, no de-clicking, transferred using a stereo cartridge and summed to mono in the edit with pverall level adjustment to avoid clipping.
