After an interesting night spent alone on my campsite by Siang river in Yingkiong, I start the drive to Tuting next morning- the road ahead winds through some of the most dramatic terrain in Arunachal Pradesh. The journey to Tuting, one of India’s most remote frontier towns near the Tibetan border, is full of challenges- once could only be done by foot, now the roads are being built, but landslides are a common sight. In this chapter of the journey, I drive deeper into Upper Siang district, navigating narrow mountain roads, cliffs, and river valleys. What begins as a rugged drive that tests me and my Toyota Fortuner- slowly turns into a cultural discovery. As I arrive, I get to know that the town is preparing for the "Anggen Aran" festival, a very important post harvesting festival of the Adi Tribe of Arunachal. I get a glimpse into the traditions of the Adi community — their rituals, preparations, and the rhythm of life in this remote Himalayan town. This is not just a road trip. It’s a journey into a place where geography, culture, and history meet at the edge of India. ------ Subscribe to Dib Offbeat for stories from the roads less traveled across Northeast India and beyond. #ArunachalPradesh #Tuting #UpperSiang #ArunachalTravel #NortheastIndia #OffbeatTravel #SoloTravelIndia #Fortuner #BorderRoads #DibOffbeat
