Witcher 3's Tutorial Is Actually Genius

White Orchard is sold as a Griffin tutorial. It isn't. It's a tutorial on occupation. The game teaches you how Nilfgaard controls a village with 4 shots: a whipping, an empty wall, a bloody shirt, and a night escape. Most players miss it because they're focused on the contract. CORRECTION / ADDITION: You're right - the Griffin is aggressive because Nilfgaardians killed its mate and smashed its eggs. Griffins mate for life, so it abandons its lair and you need the buckthorn trap. I cut it to keep the focus broad on the war, but it actually makes the point stronger - war creates the monster problem too. Thanks for catching it.
