The Dutch coaster Mv. Kwintebank is sailing to the port of Waterford in Ireland.
Due to the dense fog the visibility is restricted. Pilotage was suspended for a couple of hours, but resumed when the visibility was improving. Still the fog blocks the view of the sunrise and the twists and turns of the narrow river. Luckily the visibility improves just before arrival at the berth.
The navigation/maneuver inside the took about 2 hours.
Thanks go out to the pilot and to the crew for their great work on deck and in the engine room. A captain can only be as good as his crew.
It has been both an honour and a pleasure to be working at sea with everybody.
Mv Kwintebank has a left turning pitch propeller, acting right handed when pitching astern. The bowthruster is adequately powered and the rudder is able to reach 60 degrees to both sides - to be used on low speeds.
