Track by track : twenty miles of two-lane through the pasture fog (track 1), the three hundred and eight steps down the cliff to the lighthouse (track 2), the elephant seals hauled out on Drakes Beach (track 3), a rancher at the gate of a 150-year-old dairy who tells you where the elk are (track 4), the tule elk walking out of the fog at dusk — with the broken-tine bull he mentioned (track 5), the fog bell ringing below the cliff at night while the guitar and pedal steel carry (track 6, mostly instrumental), and the cypress tunnel going gold as the fog finally lifts (track 7).
