Join me in the observatory as I tackle a massive 20-hour project: Imaging the Spider and The Fly (IC 417 / NGC 1931) and the Tadpoles (IC 410) in the constellation Auriga. In this video, I break down the science behind these massive stellar nurseries, the gear I used (SkyWatcher EvoStar 80ED & Poseidon-M Pro), and my complete PixInsight workflow for processing this SHO narrowband data.
Gear Used
Mount: SkyWatcher HEQ5 Pro (Belt Mod)
Telescope: SkyWatcher EvoStar 80ED Pro
Camera: Player One Poseidon-M Pro
Filters: Player One S-series 2” SHO Narrowband
Data for this image was gathered from 7 sessions between 2025-11-28 and 2026-01-17.
Data for this image: 70x300s S-II, 101x300s Ha, 70x300s O-III.
Total number of exposures 241 with a total integration time of 20 hours.
Processing: PixInsight with SHO palette with synthetic RGB stars.
Equipment: SkyWatcher EvoStar 80ED Pro (0,85x FR/FF) and Player One Poseidon-M Pro on SkyWatcher HEQ5 Pro with SkyWatcher EvoGuide 50ED and ZWO ASI120MM Mini. Player One SII, Ha, and OIII filters. Location: 63 degrees north with a bortle 4 sky.
