In June 1977, Britain's most influential music paper, the NME, ran an interview with Freddie Mercury under a headline asking whether he was a prat. He had talked about his love of ballet and his dream of bringing it to ordinary people. The paper turned it into a joke.
After that summer, Freddie pulled back from the press for most of his life. The tabloids filled the silence with rumours, and a trusted insider even sold his story. His final statement to the world, the day before he died, said he was famous for his lack of interviews.
But the moment people still talk about is how history answered that headline's question.
This story is a reminder that silence can be self-respect, not weakness.
