Why does standing up too fast make you dizzy for a second? It's not fatigue — it's a real reflex called the baroreflex, and it barely ever fails.
That gray-out, the static in your vision, the second you grab the armrest — it happens to rested, healthy people constantly, which means "you're just tired" was never the real explanation. This video breaks down orthostatic hypotension: what your baroreceptors are actually doing when you stand up, why your retina "sees" the problem before your brain does, and what the exact same mechanism has to do with fighter pilots blacking out at high G-force. Plus two small things you can do that actually work with the mechanism instead of against it.

This video is educational, not medical advice. Occasional brief dizziness when standing is normal — if it happens frequently, lasts more than a few seconds, or leads to fainting, talk to a doctor.
