VERDICT: Dying Last Words Trial — FL v. Leigha Mumby — Day 2

Leigha Mumby, 24, is standing trial after her boyfriend, Daniel Waterman, died on Oct. 8, 2025, eight months after a crash that left him with severe injuries. While in the ICU, detectives say Waterman told them Mumby intentionally swerved into a tree during an argument after she learned she was pregnant and he received a text from another woman. Waterman said Mumby accelerated to 80 or 90 mph before the crash, telling him, “I don’t care what happens, you’ll get what you deserve.” His statement to detectives became his dying words. Mumby is charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving causing serious bodily injury.
